Getting Started with the New PrecisionOS Launcher
Welcome to the new PrecisionOS Launcher! This is your central hub for surgical and medical education in virtual reality (applying to all modules except Body Works).
The first time you load into the Launcher, you will be greeted with a brief tutorial video walking you through the interface. To help you get the most out of your training, we have designed a seamless ecosystem that connects your mobile device directly to your VR headset.
Here is how the intended training loop works:
Step 1: Plan Your Session on the Mobile App
Your training begins before you even put on the headset.
- Open the PrecisionOS Mobile App on your smartphone. (Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
- On the home screen, type in your current educational need, whether that is a specific skill you want to practice, a clinical gap you are trying to close, or the title of an upcoming case you wish to prep for.
- The system will then recommend the best VR applications for your needs.
- Bonus Resources: Alongside the app recommendations, you may also receive targeted video content. This can include Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) discussing the surgery, or tutorial videos on specific tool usage. The app will also specify if you only need to complete a portion of a VR module to practice your desired skill, saving you valuable time.
Step 2: Put on the Headset & Launch

Once you have your recommendation, put on your VR headset and load into the PrecisionOS Launcher.
- How to Interact: You will see a laser pointer extending from your virtual surgical gloves. Simply aim the cursor at the panel and pull the Trigger button on your controller to click.
- Your Home Screen: The VR Launcher syncs with your mobile app. Look to the right side of the main panel under Performance Training Recommendations to see the exact modules suggested during your mobile chat.
- Click the Launch Now button to jump directly into your suggested case, or click App Library to browse the full catalog independently.
Important Note About BodyWorks App
If you are using the BodyWorks app, the experience will differ slightly from the new PrecisionOS Launcher workflow:
- Direct Launch Behavior:
Launching BodyWorks will take you directly to the login page and then into the case selection menu. It does not currently route through the updated PrecisionOS Launcher interface. - Mobile-to-Launcher Sync Limitation:
If you add BodyWorks to your queue from the mobile app, attempting to launch it from the PrecisionOS Launcher will not successfully open the app.
What to Do Instead
- Launch BodyWorks directly from your headset’s app library
- Then proceed to select your case within the app
Step 3: Practice in VR
Complete the recommended case or the specific skill subset you identified during your mobile planning session.
Step 4: Review Your Insight Report
Once you complete your VR session and take off the headset, our system analyzes your performance metrics.
- Notification: Within 5 to 10 minutes, you will receive a notification on your PrecisionOS Mobile App that your feedback report is ready.
- The Breakdown: This in-depth report evaluates your cognition and technical skills, breaking your performance down into three clear categories:
- The Win: What you executed well.
- The Gap: Where you have room for improvement.
- Up Next: A targeted practice recommendation to help you overcome that specific shortcoming.

Step 5: Close the Loop
Take your "Up Next" recommendation and feed it right back into the home screen of the mobile app. This will generate your next tailored VR recommendation, completing your educational loop!
Troubleshooting Tips
-
Credential Issues: If your existing password isn't working, use the "Forgot Password" link to trigger a reset email.
-
SSO Conflicts: If you previously used a specific email for your account, ensure you use that same email if you decide to switch to an SSO method to avoid creating duplicate profiles.
