My headset uses the wrong Oculus account

My headset is being configured or is using the wrong Oculus or Facebook account.

As Oculus is a subsidiary of Facebook/Meta, the Oculus app on your mobile phone will default to signing you in with the account you're currently signed into on the Facebook app on your mobile device. Then, the Quest 2 completes the initial setup using that account. 

Note: the Oculus app will look for your Facebook app login credentials by default, but if you do not have the Facebook app installed, it will look for your login credentials for facebook.com on your mobile browser or for other Facebook/Meta apps (eg. Instagram).

 

Here is how to select a different Oculus or Facebook account for the Quest 2 setup:

  1. Sign out of and close the Oculus app on your mobile device.
  2. Sign out of and close your Facebook app (or Instagram app, or "Facebook.com" in your mobile browser as applicable).
  3. Open the Oculus app and select the option to sign in with Facebook, and you will now be able to enter the correct email and password for the account you wish to use.
    • Note: if the Oculus app continues to sign in using the wrong account, open the Facebook app, sign in with the desired account, then open the Oculus app again.
