What tools are available in BodyWorks?

This article details the functionality of BodyWorks tools, including the needle, forceps, measuring tool, VR projector remote, and marker, to enhance interactive learning.

Within BodyworksTM , you can explore anatomy using tools to point, measure, draw, and present, enhancing interaction and learning with precision.

Needle—The needle can be inserted into any muscle or ligament and left in them. When inserted, it prevents pickup of the muscle/ligament it was inserted into. If the needle contacts a bone, it will play a “ping” effect that will make all bones, arteries/veins and nerves invisible, and they will pulse into being visible in 20cm sphere around the impact point. Bones near the needle tip will be partially translucent. Arteries will be visible in red, veins in blue, and nerves in orange.

Forceps—The forceps can be used to more accurately point at different pieces of anatomy. When the user holds the trigger down, the forceps will display the label of whichever piece of anatomy they are in contact with.

Measuring tool—The measuring tool can be used to measure general lengths of different pieces of anatomy. As noted in the tooltip displayed on pickup, pressing and holding trigger will draw a line until the user lets go. The lines only go straight, they do not curve along with hand movement. Moving the thumbstick will change the units of the last line created between inches, centimeters, and millimeters. Pressing the A/X button will remove the last created line. Pressing the B/Y button will remove all lines.

VR Projector remote & laser pointer—The VR Projector allows users to change slides if a presentation is displayed using the thumbstick left or right. The user can also press and hold trigger to display a laser pointer to point at the slide, or at the patient.

Marker—The marker can be used to draw on any piece of bone, muscle, or connective tissue. The marker tip’s color can be changed by pressing up/down on the thumbstick. The colors currently are blue, green, red, and black. The tip size can be increased by moving the thumbstick right, and decreased by moving the thumbstick left. Pressing the B/Y button will change the marker to an eraser. Pressing and holding the B/Y button for 3 seconds will cause all markings to be removed.
