Your Implementation Strategy

A strong foundation begins with choosing the right model for your program’s needs. PrecisionOS has identified three models that have proven successful across a range of institutions.

1. The "Deep Curriculum" Model

For programs seeking multi-hour-per-week engagement, the platform must be woven into the core curriculum. This involves:

Clear Goals: Aligning specific PrecisionOS apps with PGY-level goals and learning objectives.

Defined Outcomes/Expectations: Using the platform's analytics to track weekly utilization and setting an expectation that use is required as an OR Prep tool.

Faculty-Led Sessions: Using the Multi-User/Collaboration features for "virtual OR" sessions where senior residents or faculty can mentor juniors in a case together in VR.

 2. The "Rotational Toolkit" Model

For programs that want to provide a flexible, high-value reference tool, we already align specific applications to subspecialty rotations.

Easy Reference: We provide a simple one-sheet guide (e.g., "On your Spine rotation? Focus on these 3 modules.").

Top-Down Nudges: This model is most effective when faculty-driven. A simple "Have you prepped for this case in VR?" from an attending is often the most powerful catalyst for a resident to build the habit.

As a self-Paced tool: This modality leverages the VR headset as though it were a textbook the residents can reference throughout their rotations.

3. The "Skills Bootcamp" Model

Many institutions get tremendous value by concentrating VR usage into "skills bootcamps."

Augment and improve: Over a multiple week period, residents use VR daily to augment lower-fidelity simulations and get a high volume of high-quality "reps" in a safe environment.

Variety is key: From wire navigation to surgical approaches and even training for arthroscopy, this is a very effective front-loaded approach to implementation.
