How does the anatomical menu work?

This article details how to toggle anatomical layers, zoom into specific regions, utilize visual guides, and adjust patient settings to optimize your learning experience.

The anatomical menu in BodyWorksTM enhances anatomical exploration and instruction. It includes including tools for toggling anatomical layers, zooming into specific regions, displaying guides, and customizing patient settings.

Anatomy Layers—The anatomical layers submenu allows users to toggle off/on entire anatomical layers. These are Skin (full-patient only), Muscles, Circulatory, Nerves, Bones. The user can toggle any combination of these on/off. The user can also press “toggle all” to automatically turn on all layers.

Zoom-to—The Zoom-to submenu shows all of the different anatomical levels that we want to highlight. These include: Head, Shoulder, Spine, Arm, Wrist, Pelvis, Knee, Ankle. All limbs include both a left and a right side that can be independently zoomed to. These levels include anatomy enlarged to about 3x the real life size. These levels can be useful to explore specific regions of body, and be able to better instruct or take videos about how certain parts function, surgical areas of note, etc.

Guides—The guides submenu can display 3 different planes to help visualize the patient in different ways. These include Cross-sectional planes (which includes Sagittal, Frontal, and Transverse planes), Anatomical directions (which includes Superior/Inferior, Anterior/Posterior, and Patient’s left/Patient’s right.), and Relative directions (which includes Medial/Lateral, and Proximal/Distal).

Patient settings—The Patient settings submenu currently allows the user to toggle the labels on and off.
