When you take your Meta Quest 3 out of the box, you'll want to use the power adapter and charging cable included in the box to fully charge your headset before use. After your headset is fully charged, follow the directions below
To unbox your headset and controllers and get them ready for set up:
- Carefully remove the paper from your headset strap and remove the lens films.
- Press and hold the power button on the left side of the headset for three seconds, or until you hear a chime sound and see the Meta symbol appear in your headset.
- Remove the battery blocker from each controller by gently pulling the paper tab.
- Securely attach your controllers to each wrist using the adjustable straps.
- Turn on your controllers by pressing and holding on the left controller and on the right.
- After holding and for two seconds, you should see a blinking white light and feel a haptic response, indicating your controllers are ready to go.
- From here you’ll progress through the first part of the in-VR tutorial including choosing a language and connecting to Wi-Fi, before moving on to adjusting the fit of your Meta Quest 3.
Note: Make sure you connect your headset to a charger before doing any software updates.
Pair your headset with the Meta Quest mobile app
The Meta Quest mobile app acts as a companion to your Meta Quest 3, allowing you to browse the Store, buy, download and remote-install apps, customize your device settings, cast your experience to your phone or any Chromecast-enabled device, and more. Learn more about how to install the Meta Quest mobile app on your phone.
You won’t need to use the Meta Quest mobile app every time you use your headset, but you will need it to complete the initial pairing and setup process.
To pair your headset to the Meta Quest mobile app and complete device setup:
- Download the Meta Quest mobile app from either the Google Play or Apple App store.
- Open the Meta Quest mobile app and log in or create a new account.
- Once you’ve logged in, tap Menu then tap Devices.
- The app should now automatically pair with your headset and controllers. If the app does not automatically pair:
- Put on your headset and look for a 5-digit pairing code.
- In the Meta Quest mobile app, enter the 5-digit code from your headset.
- Once the code is entered, your headset should start pairing with the app.
Make sure that you've updated your Meta Quest mobile app to the latest version. If you're not seeing an option to add a Quest headset in your app, update and then fully close the Meta Quest app before reopening the app and trying again.
Please note that you need to have Bluetooth and sharing with nearby devices turned on in order to connect your phone with your headset.
If you’re still having trouble with setting up your Meta Quest 3, please contact Meta Store Support for additional assistance.
After you've completed setting up your Meta Quest 3 with the Meta Quest mobile app, you can connect your headset to your PC using Quest Link or Air Link.
