This report tracks your progress from the start of your residency towards common graduate milestones.
The My Progress Report tracks your progress towards completing all the milestones outlined in the curriculum list we have on record for your school.
Your report contains two parts; the milestone details and the graphical header section, we'll explain both sections below.
Milestone Details Explained
At PrecisionOS, we have mapped our VR modules to widely recognized curriculum standards. In the United States, we map to the ACGME Orthopedic Surgical Milestones. In Canada, we map to the CanMeds milestones.
We look at the learning objectives for each of our VR modules and map those objectives to the appropriate milestones (some modules may satisfy multiple milestones). We then look at the module to determine what are the minimum requirements to demonstrate a certain level of competency.
The levels of competency are graded into five levels :
- Level 1 - Equivalent to: "Requires complete hands-on guidance, did not do, or not given the opportunity to do".
- Level 2 – Equivalent to: "Able to perform tasks but requires constant direction".
- Level 3 – Equivalent to: "Demonstrates some independence, but requires intermittent direction". This is the highest level that we believe can currently be attained in a VR simulation.
- Level 4 – Equivalent to: "Independence but unaware of risks and still requires supervision for safe practice". This level of skill needs to be acquired in the actual OR.
- Level 5 – Equivalent to: "Complete independence, understands risks and performs safely, practice ready". This level of skill needs to be acquired in the actual OR.
Milestone accomplishments are also regularly sent to your program leadership.
Graphical Header Elements
This top part of your report contains four graphics that summarize your activities since the last report.
Milestone Accomplishment Chart - This graphic shows the number of ACGME milestones that you have achieved at levels 1, 2, and 3 and comparisons with what you've achieved over the recent months.
Top Three Chart - This graphic shows the top three residents in your program. This score is based on who's accomplished the highest number of milestones.
Your Metrics Chart - This graphic shows the time spent and cases completed since the last report.
News Panel - This graphic shows a rotating series of announcements. This may include newsworthy items like new VR modules that are now available for you to try or upcoming PrecisionOS events.
