Troubleshooting guardian zone issues

If you're having trouble setting up Guardian with your Meta Quest 2, try the following:

Playing area

  • Check to make sure your play area is at least 3 feet by 3 feet (1 meter by 1 meter).
  • Move any objects that may keep you from setting your boundaries (for example: table, couch).

Touch Controllers

  • Make sure to hold down the trigger on your Touch controller while setting your boundaries.
  • Check to make sure you're not blocking the tracking ring of your Touch controller with your hands or body when setting your boundaries.
  • Make sure the batteries in your Touch controllers are not low.

If your guardian was working before and you are experiencing new issues, reassure the following: 

  1. Playing environment is too bright, adjust the intensity of lights, try turning some lights off, step-off direct sun exposure or use curtains/blinders to reduce the brightness
  2. Playing environment is too dark, turn some light on, open curtains/blinders
  3. Playing environment contains reflective surfaces, cover the reflective surfaces while playing, play in a different location
  4. Dirty tracking cameras, clean the tracking cameras by following these recommendations
  5. Clear your guardian history: 
    • Press the Oculus logo on your right controller
    • Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu
    • Select Settings 
    • In the settings panel, select Guardian
    • Select 'Clear Guardian history'
    • Redraw your Guardian boundaries by selecting 'Adjust Guardian' from the Guardian settings menu
